I think I passed a Bikram yoga milestone yesterday during class: I finally let go of the bad attitude. My inner monologue during a hot yoga class usually consists of a lot of swear words and a count down of the poses left until the end. How negative! I wasn’t even aware I was doing this but I definitely noticed when I stopped. I kind of just let go of everything I was thinking and started concentrating on doing each pose as well as I could and listening to the teacher’s instructions. I enjoyed the class a lot more this way!
Developing awareness of my negative inner monologue (and telling it to shut-up!) is one of the first yoga techniques I can apply to my life outside the yoga studio (I’m sure there’s more, I just haven’t encountered them yet).
