On January 27th I attended the International Design Show opening party, and here are some of the photos I snapping with my iPhone.
I was surprised to find out that this display had been designed by IKEA and I overheard other people expressing the same sentiment that it doesn’t look very IKEA-y. When I think of IKEA I think of light birch and white module furniture, it just goes to show the kind of diversity you can accomplish in your own place using budget-friendly IKEA products (not that this display is budget-friendly but you can definitely get some inspiration from it).
Admittedly I don’t know very much about interior design, but Andrea Ford definitely does and I was lucky enough to attend the party with her (it was like having my own private tour guide of everything trendy in home decor!). Here she is making an impromptu appearance on House & Home Online TV. If you’re feeling crafty, Andrea offers some incredible DIY classes in her new studio in Toronto, RE:Style Studio where you can learn to reupholster furniture from Andrea herself.
And I might as well throw in a celeb sighting for good measure. Here are the guys from CBC’s show Steven & Chris. Everywhere these guys went a trail of 10-20 people followed (probably waiting to hear an inkling of design gospel as they checked out the show).
The International Design Show is on at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre until January 30th (that’s tomorrow so put down your brunch and go!).
