Eating healthy was never something I was very interested in before I discovered this blog. And for a woman my age (between 19 and 50) Canada’s Food Guide recommends eating 7-8 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. Now, I hear all kinds of theories about serving sizes that are completely wrong. For the record, a “serving” is not very big, only about 1/2 a cup or a medium piece of fruit but it’s still a challenge to consistently eat enough fruits and veggies everyday.
One of my best friend’s (Jess) just passed her one year vegetarianniversary so she decided to celebrate by trying out a raw/vegan lifestyle for a week. So last night we tested out one of Toronto’s raw restaurants, Live Organic Food Bar. I had the Sunshine Wrap (pictured above) which is “a garden-fresh wrap made from sprouted dlax seeds, sundried tomatoes and carrots filled with sunflower seed hummus, cucumbers, kale, tomatoes, red onions, avocado and sprouts drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette”, and a side salad with their homemade Walnut Mustard dressing (walnuts, miso, agave, apple cider vinegar and spices). I tried this specific dish because I was curious about raw bread, and without a dehydrator I can’t make my own.
It was incredible! The portion sizes were HUGE but I still managed to eat all of it! And one thing I’ve noticed about raw food is that even when you’re stuffed you don’t have that heavy bloated feeling that a lot of people associate with feeling full. Trust me, you’re still plenty full after a meal like this.
Anyhoo, tonight I’m headed to Booty Camp and then I’ll be posting some workout recovery tips for you so stay tuned : )

It is so hard to get enough veggies in one day. There has to be some major planning on my part to include veggies. I love them, so I am not sure why I don’t eat more of them.
I am patiently waiting for my May session of booty camp to start. I took a hiatus since March, and I miss it so much.
NOT convinced. raw bread? really?
