…So, how’d you fare? Did you create a plan of attack, stick to your guns diet-wise – or succumb to the pumpkin pies, sugar cookies, and christmas puddings?
Today is the perfect mid-winter holiday day to take a breather not only from our gluttonous regime of the past few days (if not weeks!) It’s also the perfect moment of respite to do a mental, emotional, and perhaps physical check of what you liked and didn’t like about your habits over the last little while (especially with New Years around the corner!) Not just those with food – but everywhere; the holidays shed light on our worst habits in addition to how great (and not so great) we function in high-stress (…yes, I am thinking of a worst-case-scenario plane crash or having to perform emergency surgery on a desert island situations.) No, I’m not talking about making official resolutions just yet (not that I believe in those) – but doing a personal check-in and reflection, clearing the mental and emotional clutter from any Christmas guilt, shame, or negative feelings about some of the things you might’ve done (and didn’t do) this Christmas holiday. Why carry those old and well-worn habits and feelings forward any longer than you have to? Rather, by acknowledging that although you might’ve had that 3rd or 4th slice of rum cake post-Christmas dinner (& dessert)… that you’d like to do things different next time, and you’re going to do your best to do so – for yourself. Why wait for the New Year to start feeling good about your choices when you can start today?
